G'day from the land down under!!
Here are the updates thus far... After all of our hard work packing, unpacking, repacking to get my bags or rather body bags down to an acceptable 50 lbs I was off on my way to AUSTRALIA on June 1st. I couldn't believe that the day was already here until I had a slight panic attack in the car finding it hard to breathe.. Don't worry though my mom looked over and said nope you are still breathing, thanks mom hahaha
Finally at the airport, after missing the exit a couple of times, my bags weighed in at a whopping 51 lbs EACH and I found out that I couldn't get away with carrying on a bag, a backpack, and a purse soooo long story short lots of rearranging took place resulting in a backpack that felt like it had a small child inside and an arm bag that felt like a cement block!!
I flew into LA a little before dinner time to meet up with Caitlin to have some dinner and break up all the airport time! She was an absolute life saver and helped me on the hike to get my bags transferred to Quantas Airlines, Brisbane. Plus I got to have in and out for one last time and have her totally take my mind off the fact that I have officially started to freak!
I was going through international security and little did I know that I was going to be subjected to a TSA drill... We were all going through our business, all of a sudden all the TSA people start shouting code, running around like crazies, and stopping everyone in the tracts! I think it would an understatement to say that I literally thought it was all over right then hahaha I thought that was enough excitement for the night but just wait.
I get to my terminal and meet up with a group of girls that are with Australearn. We are were chit chatting and getting to know each other, time flew and it was boarding time. You will never believe what they were doing, THEY WERE WEIGHING CARRY ONS!!!! I was sweating bullets because I packed my carry on to have my four necessary pairs of shoes and my backpack was stock full of all my electronics, nothing that could be left behind and the weight cut off was 15 lbs... Luckily somehow I squeaked by without having mine weighed, whewww!
On the 14 hour flight I started my trip off on the right foot by being lucky enough to sit next to an australian god! He was so lovely and just such a gem sadly the man in front of him kept bumping into his legs so I suggested he might move to one of the open seats in the middle with more leg room.. he reluctantly went haha I watched movies, drank some wine and missed my girls back home!
We arrived in BRISBANE AUSTRALIA, got our bags, went through customs, checked our bags on our domestic flight to Cairns and enjoyed the airport for a little. I was happy to see familiar places like subway, hungry jacks (burger king wanna be), and a krispy kreme!!
Until next time :]
